Why do I love the new spiral notebooks from Making Memories....

because they remind me of my favourite coffee pot and creamer. This set gathered years ago from the local lifeline store, it was one of those days when you go for a wander and you know you are going to find something really special and if you find it at the first opshop it is enough and you just want to come home, make it all sparkly again and admire it over and over. I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago, I call it my $5.00 day, I went to said opshop and upon walking into the front door was this amazing 1950's wrought iron garden table for $5.00 - bargain. So whilst I'm oohing and aahing over the table the ladies behind the counter say "it just came in this morning" and so I ask if it came with chairs. They say they sent some chairs into the other shop in town this morning so I purchase the table and off I go to see if I can find some matching chairs, not too worried if they are not there because really the table is such a find anyway. So I get to the one in town and I'm walking through the chair section and I spot something under a canvas cover on a nearby lounge, and I am thinking it can't be because this opshop has a special "collectables" room with all the vintage goodies in so I am getting very excited because from a distance I am thinking it has got to be a vintage typewriter under its original canvas cover. And it was and I took it up to the counter to ask the man how much it would be and he says "Is $5.00 alright love" and I say yes that's great and so concluded my $5.00 opshop day!

A Wedding is being planned ...

This year my boy and I are getting married, we are all very excited. As he is one of sixteen children we will be having a big country wedding and so the planning has begun. In our household we love a theme and a good dress up so I am now on a mission to locate enough vintage crystal and cut glass to hold enough salad, desserts and roses for tables to fit about 150 people. I have a bit of a head start as I am quite partial to old glassware so have acquired quite a collection over the years. Our theme is country womens association meets 1950's glam - can hardly wait. The invitations will feature an old photograph I found many years ago, one of my faves, I love how the wedding cake looks like its just balancing and the old corrugated and wood fence in the background with a favourite Judy Garland quote "For it was not into my ear that you whispered, but into my heart, it was not my lips you kissed but my soul". Have a lovely Sunday, Krisx
